this amazing story!!!

Two of my Eskies are living in Wisconsin. One is out of my CH 'PR' Van's Snowy Thunderhawk (Hawk) & CH 'PR' Vans Precious Snow Angel (Angel) and the other is out Hawk and 'PR' Vans Batty Snow Pixie (Babat). Obviously they are half sisters. They were born within a week of each other. They are 2 yrs old now.

They live a fantastic couple who are both deaf. They wanted another Eskie as the one they had just lost to old age had been so helpful in alerting them to things they could not detect. Since two is better than one, they decided on a pup from each litter.

About two weeks ago, both of the girls began barking as we all know Eskies can do...but they would NOT STOP. Mom had to go to work that night, but Dad was still home..The girls continued to bark and run back and forth. The girls usually play but this behavior was much different and Dad became concerned. Dad not knowing what could be causing this uproar, called his Mom. The girls began to run back and forth between Dad and the carbon monoxide detector. Hence, Dad and Grandma discovered that the girls were fussing about the carbon monoxide detector going off. They called the Fire Department who proceeded to check the gas hot water heater....it had a leak!!!

The Fire Department said that if the girls had NOT alerted Dad to the detector going off, none of them would have made it through the night. What is really neat about this is that the girls have NEVER been professionally trained as service dogs....they have just learned to preform and alert their Mom & Dad whenever something isn't quite right. They were barking when someone knocked or rang the doorbell when they were only 15 weeks. They also bark when the phone rings. They have been a very BIG part of their Mom & Dad's life ever since they moved in with them.

I am obviously EXTREMELY proud of the girls!!! It is just another excellent example of how terribly intelligent this breed is when given a loving home and responsibility.
